How it works

Frequently asked questions
Does this use AI to detect the subject?
No — it works by detecting the color connected to your photo's edges and making it transparent, similar to a magic-wand tool. It's fast and fully private, but it works best on plain or fairly even backgrounds rather than busy, textured ones.
What if it removes part of my subject, or leaves background behind?
Raise or lower the tolerance slider and try again, or switch to the touch-up brush — Erase to remove more, Restore to bring back anything that shouldn't have gone transparent.
What file do I get back?
A PNG at your original photo's full resolution, with the background transparent instead of removed-and-filled.
Does this upload my photo anywhere?
No — everything runs on your device in the browser; your photo is never sent anywhere.
Can I start over if I make a mistake?
Yes, click Reset at any point to restore the original photo and start again.
Your files are never uploaded. Gotool.xyz runs entirely as JavaScript in your browser. Your files are processed in memory and never touch a server — nothing to breach, nothing to clean up. Close the tab and it's like it never happened. The only thing we count is which tool ran (just the name, e.g. "merge") so we know what people find useful — never your file, its name, its size, or anything in it.
