How does the background removal work?
By color, not object recognition — it samples the corners and clears anything of a similar color connected to the edge. That works well on a plain, evenly-lit backdrop (a product shot, a passport-style photo) but struggles with busy or detailed backgrounds.
Will the GIF file be large?
Typically small enough to share directly — output is capped at 480px on its longest side, so size mainly depends on the effect and how many seconds you choose.
Your files are never uploaded. Gotool.xyz runs entirely as JavaScript in your browser. Your files are processed in memory and never touch a server — nothing to breach, nothing to clean up.
